I’m finally getting along to see the good people at The Rookery in Spitalfields, London this Sunday (20 Sept) to play a few songs. I met James Burton, one of the organisers, a couple of years ago at the infamous Lantern Society at the Betsey Trotwood on Farringdon Road and really liked what they had there; top-quality songwriters singing their songs in a friendly (and slightly ‘hip’, let’s be honest) setting. The Rookery is similar but better, one imagines.
And I’ve just heard that Alex Huskisson of The Mystery Train Radio Show (http://www.themysterytrainradioshow.com) on Severn FM is into my stuff and is playing a track (probably off Sweet The Love) on the show on Sunday (20 Sept) between 10.00 p.m. and midnight. It’s on the internet; might as well listen-in if you don’t have an early Monday start! He’s had Ron Sexsmith in on the show so that’s me easily impressed.
Next Sat 26, I’m playing at Jack Harrison and Matt Benjamin’s ‘Harvest Moon Fayre’. Jack and Matt make very moving music. Lots of other top west country talent there too: Aidan Simpson, Son of Richard and Ella Squirrell to name a few. Pop in if you’re in that neck of the woods (see pic).
Incase you were wondering, I DID make another album and it is gonna come out only… not until the new year now and, with any luck, on ****** Records and… myself and Jinder are getting on with booking a Winter tour. Will announce as soon as the number of dates reaches critical mass.
Be nice to yourself; you’re doing the best you can and you’re doing what you need to do.
See you soon.
